Sweet! Hamilton Halton Brant Conservation Areas are mad for maple.

Mark the end of a long, cold winter with an outing to one of four great maple syrup festivals taking place this month.

Maple Syrup Festival at Bronte Creek Provincial Park
March 6 – 29
Enjoy a guided tour of Maple Lane, where 1890’s costumed interpreters demonstrate how to tap maple trees and bring the process of making maple syrup and taffy come to life. View artifacts in the Maple Museum and tour the 100-year-old Spruce Lane Farmhouse. Hop on a wagon that will take you to a heated pancake house where you can enjoy fresh, hot pancakes with syrup and sausage.

Sweet Water Season at Crawford Lake Conservation Area
Weekends, March Break and holidays from February 28 through April 5
Visit a reconstructed Iroquoian Village and learn how maple syrup was discovered and used by Ontario’s First Peoples as you take in an interactive (and edible!) Sweet Water demonstration. Nostalgia is served warm and gooey in the afternoon as staff demonstrate how to make taffy on snow. Maple themed crafts and discovery hunts for kids.

Maple Town at Mountsberg Conservation Area
Weekends, March Break and holidays from February 28 through April 5
Explore the Mountsberg Sugar Bush to see historical and modern methods of tapping, collecting and boiling sap to make syrup. Take in a maple candy making session, or travel on a horse-drawn ride through the bush to learn about this special forest and how it’s cared. Finish off your visit with a stop at the Pancake Pavilion for a plate of flap jacks covered in pure maple syrup.

Westfield Heritage Village Maple Syrup Festival
March 8, 15, 18, 19, 22, & 29
April 3 and April 5
Discover one of Canada’s most time-honoured and tasty traditions. Explore the making of maple syrup from the tree to the table in three different time periods: the methods of Canada’s First Nations, 19th century pioneers and modern times. Families can purchase and enjoy a delicious, reasonably priced pancake breakfast.
